The 1400-passenger ship Zenith was constructed as a sistership to the first newbuild of Celebrity Cruises - MV Horizon. The vessel was ordered in 1989 by Chandris Group (Greek shipowner) for its Celebrity brand. The Inaugural Cruise (maiden voyage) was in 1992 from NYC New York to the Caribbean.

The Zenith was built in 1992 as the sister ship of the Horizon (1990), both vessels were the first newbuildings conceived by Celebrity Cruises which had just been founded in 1988. In 2007, the Zenith was sold to the Spanish cruise operator Pullmantur, with the Horizon following in 2009. At 1,400 passengers, the two ships were mid-sized upon.

On September 24th, the former Celebrity Cruises / Pullmantur cruise ship The Zenith (last renamed SINGA) arrived at Alang Shipyard (India) for scrapping. The 30-year-old vessel, currently moored off Alang's coast, is to be scrapped in the coming months.
