Flamenco competition in Vejer. La peña flamenco (flamenco club) in Vejer and the city council organises a flamenco singing competition in June and the beginning of July. The final competition is at the end of August where the year's finalists face off. This year in 2020, it was going to be the 23rd flamenco competition in Vejer de la Frontera.

Vejer de la Frontera's historic quarter is enclosed by ancient walls to varying degrees. In some places the walls and even several towers ( Mayorazgo Tower, San Juan Tower, Correda Tower) are still mostly intact. In other places the wall kind of fades away or disappears into someone's home or just becomes part of a back fence or a storage area.

Este anuncio llega tras una reunión de la Comisión Permanente de Turismo, la cual, en consulta con el sector, ha decidido la fecha para la próxima edición de este evento tan.

Vejer de la Frontera is a pretty, whitewashed town with some lovely restaurants. Along the coast there is also Chiclana (great market), Cadiz and Tarifa (where you can get a ferry to Morocco). Jerez is approx. 1.5 hours by car (you can do 'sherry tasting' tours there) and Seville a bit further but worth a day trip.

We had trouble scanning in the right codes (apparently we didn't have the correct app) in order to get our desired walking tour directions..
